SACRED JOURNEY

What if you where diagnosed with a chronic disease and given a few years to live? Would you think of giving back to your community? If so, in what way?

In 2006, Juan Quintero was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease, and given 3 years to live. The disease has rapidly left him immobile shattering many of his dreams. But his condition also pressured him to leave something lasting behind...in this case, a colorful 34 X 14 foot mural on a wall of his alma

mater, Sacred Heart Elementary School.

Told by Juan's brother Ernesto, "Sacred Journey" chronicles both the birth of a vibrant mural and the rapid paralysis of a vibrant soul. Filled with sad, uplifting and even hilarious moments, the film documents the making of the mural, the community that volunteered to make it happen and how they deal with the deterioration of a dear friend.
